March 30, 2012

I woke up at 6:30 a.m. I had gone to bed and was asleep by 10 p.m. the night before so I felt rested.

It is spring break for Savana with school, but since I had to get up for work she had to as well. She would be going to her grandma’s for the day, so she got up without any problems and said she would go back to sleep when she got to her grandma’s.

I made Savana breakfast of an apple and oatmeal. Then she was off to her grandma’s, which is only a block away.

For myself I blended up 30 bananas, mixed with coconut water. My bananas are starting to get to the point where they need to be used up before they go bad. Also I haven’t been staying all raw lately and I wanted to make sure I had enough fruit with me for the day.

I still had left over from the night before a stew of an apple, tomatoes, celery, lettuce and a small piece of a jalapeno. I decided that would be my breakfast.

I bottled all my food for the day and set off to work on my bicycle.

I’ve been listening to inspirational speakers on my ipod when I’ve been biking. I really enjoy learning about ways to better myself J

This morning I was listening to Jim Rohn talking about “The Art of Exception”. What a fun guy to listen to!

It was a rainy morning, but surprisingly warm. It felt perfect to me. I was well supplied with all my rain gear on.

I biked 5 miles to work and cleaned for 2 hours. I drank my 48oz. of “stew” while I was there.

I had a little bit of free time before my next job so I biked a mile to the co-op. While I was there I bought some tomatoes, celery, lettuce, dates and a hot pepper. Planning for my stew the next day.

I thought about taking the bus to my next job. Instead I decided I would rather continue to experience my commute by bicycle. I biked 5 miles to work. I had plenty of time to get there, so I really enjoyed my rainy ride, looking around at things and practicing my eye relaxation techniques.

BTW, I’ve taken off my glasses again. They’ve been off for about 2 weeks. One of my ipod programs is about how to heal my eyes. I realize that when I took my glasses off in Costa Rica that I was going about the whole process wrong. I was trying to exercise my eyes to force them to see. That doesn’t work and causes headaches. I now know that it’s much more effective to relax my eyes. Instead of making seeing clearly a priority, I’ve made relaxing my eyes, the muscles around my eyes, my face muscles and my body the main focus. I’ve been listening to the audio book “The Secrets to Regaining Your Vision”. That program has been very helpful.

I arrived at my client Wylla’s, We are always so happy to see each other. She is 86 years old and one of my dearest friends. When I get there we have lunch together and talk about things. Today I was telling her about an Ayn Rand audio book that I am listening to called “The Virtue of Selfishness”. She is not much of a fan of Ayn Rand and told me about Ayn Rand and property rights. I don’t know much about Ayn so my homework before I go back to clean for her next is to research Ayn Rand and report back on my findings.

While we talked I drank 56oz. of banana smoothie. Then Wylla took her shower, which is why I come on Fridays, is to be there while she showers in case she falls or needs help. I tidy up the house while she is showering.

After Wylla’s I biked 4 miles to the bank. Then rode a few blocks to Flying M coffeehouse to meet with my friend Melissa. Melissa is my only friend in Boise that tries to eat 811 like I do. It is always so wonderful to get together with someone who understands food and nutrition in the same ways as myself.

While talking to Melissa I drank another 46oz. of my banana smoothie.

We had a great talk and decided to meet later to see a band playing at a vegetarian restaurant called Shangri-La Tea Room.

After Melissa left I called my friend Steve who was letting me borrow his car for the weekend. I needed it for Saturday night because a high school choir was coming to sing at our church and I volunteered to take two of the girls into my house for the night and needed a way to transport them.

Steve said he would meet me downtown with the car at 5:30p.m. Which would be perfect since I would be meeting Melissa again at 6, plus I wanted to get a case of oranges at a store called Cash N Carry that closed at 6. I could get the car, run and get the oranges and meet Melissa. Everything would work out perfectly.

I was getting ready to leave when I saw another friend of mine. I hadn’t seen her in a while. She used to work at the co-op and I saw her all the time going through the check out line. She no longer works there though and it was great to see her. We talked for a while. I have known her for years and went to college with her back when I was really heavy and miserable. I mentioned something about how anti-social I was back then. She paused and then told me that she likes the person I am now, but she also really liked the person I was back then. Wow! Thank you Kate! That really got me thinking about how I always put down the person I used to be, talking smack about myself. Maybe it’s time to start loving my old self as well as the person I am today. I am so grateful to have such wonderful people in my life that I can learn and grow from.

After I left Flying M, I biked a few blocks to the library to check my e-mail. I still had a half hour before Steve was going to bring me the car. I sort of got lost in “internet world” and wasn’t keeping track of the time. I realized it was 5:45, I got off the computer and went outside to call Steve.

Steve said he was running late. I was kind of upset thinking I wouldn’t be able to get my case of oranges. I decided I would try to bike there in time and told Steve to meet me there. I didn’t have too far to go and with biking at full speed I made it there with 5 minutes to spare. I bought a case of oranges, some lettuce and mangos. I came out of the store and Steve pulled up shortly after.

I loaded up my bike and food, Steve said he would walk back to his office which wasn’t far from there, so I gave him a big thank you hug and took off. I decided to stop at the orient market real quick and pick up a case of young coconuts since I was close by.

I was only 15 minutes late meeting with Melissa. She was sitting talking to a guy who I found out was the guitar player in the band. His name was Tom and he was a very interesting person. When the band starting playing Melissa and I decided that he must be a little bit drunk.

I still had some of my smoothie left from blending up my 30 bananas, but I decided I didn’t want that. Instead I ordered some vegan food, a bowl of tomato basil soup and a mock-tuna sandwich. There was also some hummus and pita already on the table that I had some of.

I never feel guilty when eating cooked food, my body simply doesn’t feel as good a when I eat raw. I also tend to put on weight very quickly when eating cooked food.

The food was good though and I didn’t over eat like I usually do on cooked food.

Melissa and I had a great time talking about things. We sat and talked until the band was finished. We agreed to meet every Friday and do something fun together.

I drove home, built a fire, read for a while and was asleep by 10 p.m.

Stay away from Ayn Rand! She’s part of the reason we’re in a recession. Alan Greenspan, former head of the federal reserve, worshipped her and based policy on her philosophy.

Thanks for the information. I looked her up a little bit yesterday but didn’t find any red flags. I’ll keep looking 🙂

Well, I loved her books 35 years ago. To me, it seemed more like being an individual, rather than following the herd. I finally made it through I think it was The Fountainhead? right after taking the est training, which really gave You back yourself.

Don’t know if this is a helpful response for You, and I just got something out of it!
