Grateful for ourselves :)

March 31st, 2012

I woke up at 9 a.m. It was so nice to be able to sleep in. I opened the curtain and the sun was bright and beautiful. I could tell from the temperature inside the house that it was going to be a warm day. The weather said it was going to be 76 degrees. Woo hoo!

I had my left over 32oz. of banana smoothie from the day before for breakfast. Then I blended up another 30 bananas with coconut water and did half with lettuce and I bottled it all up for the day.

I also blended up some stew, an apple, tomatoes, celery, lettuce and a part of a hot pepper. I bottled that up as well.

I was so happy to put on a tank top and shorts for the day! Yes!!

I gathered up my laundry and took it across the street to wash it. I pay the neighbor a dollar a load to let me use his washing machine. He is happy to share and have a little bit of extra spending money.

While I was waiting for the laundry to wash, I swept and mopped the floors in my house. When the laundry was done I hung it all out on the line to dry. Then I loaded my bike in Steve’s car and drove to go on a bike ride with a group of people. I knew I wouldn’t have time to bike back home and get the car in time for choir after the bike ride. So my plan was to park it at the church and bike to where the ride was going to start. On the way I stopped to get reverse osmosis water. There was a line and it took a lot longer than I anticipated. Then I stopped at the co-op to get a case of bananas. By the time that was done there was no way I was going to make it to the ride on time if I biked. Actually I was barely going to make it on time driving there.

So I drove to bike ride meeting area. On the way I drank 16oz. of smoothie.

I have not biked with this group before, so I was excited to meet some new people. While we were listening to the instructions for the ride I looked over and the guy from the band the night before was there, Tom. Tom came over to me and said he knew me from somewhere. I reminded him that it was from the night before at Shangri-La. He then remembered and told me that he had been really stoned the night before. That explains everything!

We started out the ride and Tom stuck with me and talked and talked and talked. I was feeling irritated, but decided to just let it go. Obviously the guy needed to talk.

We reached the turn around point and rested for a while. I had a few people ask about my crazy banana lady sign on my bike and I was real casual just saying it was my website and I had a blog on there about my life.

On the ride back Tom was up ahead so I had a quiet peaceful ride. When we got back we all sat on the patio of a local restaurant and talked. Most people ordered beer and food. I was trying to discreetly drink my smoothie, which I guess wasn’t that discreet because everyone wanted to know what it was. I told them it was coconut water, bananas and lettuce. Some thought that it was disgusting, others were intrigued. I offered to let everyone taste it. Those that did thought it was really good.

Tom ended up finding me again and sat across the table from me. Thankfully there were other people around to talk with as well, and I enjoyed meeting a lot of the people. This group is really active and does a lot of fun things.

While I was there I drank 48oz. I kept putting away my empty jar and pulling out new ones, thinking no one would notice, but they noticed….lol. I just smiled and said I liked to eat a lot of bananas. As I was leaving a couple of people in the group pulled me aside and said not to go anywhere alone with Tom. Ha! I already had that figured out, but I appreciated these people that I didn’t even know looking out for me.

I loaded the bike back in the car and drove back home.

I had more time than I thought I would before going to see the choir. Another neighbor across the street let me put a garden in his yard and in return I take care of the entire yard by keeping it watered and mowed. The grass was getting long so I got out the push mower and started mowing away. The neighbors next to where I was mowing are new to my lovely trailer court. It was two young women smoking cigarettes and yelling as their kids. One of the women asked about my push mower and was surprised at how well it worked. I offered to mow their yard for them as well, which they were more than happy to let me do.

I listened to one of my audio books by Nido Quebin called “How to be a Great Communicator”, while I mowed away. It was such a beautiful warm sunny day. I was soaking up as much vitamin D as I could get in. I wished I could mow some more after I finished, it was so much fun!

I put the mower away and drank 32oz. of my smoothie, which I thought was all of it.

I went out and got the clothes off the line and was folding them when my friend E called. It was really fun talking to him. I was telling him about trying to be discreet drinking my smoothie at the restaurant. He jokingly said that I should instead make myself more obvious. He said I should just bring the bananas and lettuce with me. Pull out a big mug, put the bananas and lettuce in it, whip out a little hand blender and blend it all up. Then offer it to everyone. Just thinking about that got me laughing to hard. That would be hilarious to do!

While we were talking I shared with him about another audio book I’d been listening to by Marshall Rosenberg about gratitude. Marshall was saying that he keeps a gratitude journal. Every day he starts out his journal writing down something he is grateful about that he has done for himself the day before or recently. Then he writes how what he did made him feel. Thirdly, he writes down what need was met or fulfilled by what he did. Lastly he celebrates and thanks himself. After the celebration he does this whole process again by being grateful for something someone else has done.

I just loved this whole idea. I tend to focus on what I am grateful for everyday but that never seems to include myself. It’s time for me to start appreciating myself.

Anyway, E thought that was a great idea, as well.

I had to get off the phone and get to church to listen to the choir.

The choir was great! It reminded me of a traveling choir that I was in when I was in high school. While the choir was singing I grabbed what I though was going to be my stew but it was another 24oz. of banana smoothie. I drank that up. Wow…I’d had 40 bananas for the day! I had stayed so full all day I didn’t even think about cooked food. Besides I’m getting sick of eating food that doesn’t make me feel very good. I’m ready to go back to all raw.

After the concert, 2 girls were staying at my house. I took them through downtown on the way home. At home they decided they wanted to stay in Savana’s room (which I had full permission from Savana for them to stay in there). The room was nice and clean since Savana and I had spent 6 hours on Monday going through the entire room, getting rid of 6 banana boxes of stuff.

The girls said they weren’t hungry and didn’t need anything. So they talked for a while in Savana’s room. I built a fire, wrote my blog notes and wrote out my gratitude’s.

We all went to bed around 10p.m.
